The Clarksville Police Department is
involved in the community through sponsorship of youth sports,
DARE, Operation Beat, R.U.O.K. and Vacation Check. These are
just a few of the programs sponsored by the Clarksville Police Department.
Southern Indiana High School
Football Classic
Part of the Clarksville Police Department's Community Policing
program is the annual sponsorship of the Southern Indiana High
School Football Tournament. This program under the direction and
leadership of Chief Dwight Ingle is one of the largest high school
sporting events in the area. All money generated is returned
back to the individual schools for the purchase of athletic
equipment. Each year the "Traveling Trophy" is awarded
to the winning team.
D.A.R.E
(Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is a collaborative effort by
DARE certified law enforcement officers, educations students,
parents, and community to offer an education program in the
classroom to prevent or reduce drug abuse and violence among
children and youth. The DARE program offers preventive
strategies to enhance those protective factors -- especially
bonding to the family, school and community -- which appear to
foster the development of resiliency in young people who may be at
risk for substance abuse or other problem behaviors. The
Clarksville DARE program is funded by a grant provided by the
Southern Indiana Youth Coalition Council.
R.U.O.K.? (Are You Okay?)
Senior citizens in Clarksville can register for the RUOK program,
which sets up a daily phone call to make sure there are no
problems. This program is FREE, complements of the Clarksville
Police Department. It is designed for citizens or residents of
Clarksville who are sixty years of age or older and for anyone who
may be disabled or shut-in due to illness or injury
Vacation Check
Residents who will be out of town for extended periods can
have regular patrols check their homes through the vacation watch
